The
CTST range of bolt tensioning tools are some of the most
compact and reliable tensioners available today. below
are special features that are incorperated in their
design.

Seal
Reliability
Seal
reliability is a fundamental requirement. All tensioners
have polyurethane self-energising lip seal requiring no
adjustment. The seals 'snap fit' into the piston
housing, remain firm and will not dislodge to cause
failure after prolonged use. As the seals are machined
and not moulded, size is not restricted, allowing no
compromise in tensioner design. The TENTEC seal exhibits
a much lower coefficient of friction than nitrile seals
used in many other hydraulic bolt tensioners. This
benefit, in conjunction with a special anti-extrusion
device, allows the tool piston/ram to be returned to its
closed position with minimal effort.
Piston
'over stroke' for safety
When
using hydraulic bolt tensioners, it is important that
the maximum movement of the ram piston is not exceeded.
In the unfortunate situation when stroke is exceeded, a
simple failure mechanism inside most TENTEC tensioners
directs any escaping fluid away from the operator and
deposits it inside the device. A red warning indicator
line becomes visible as the maximum piston extension
position is reached.

Link
Hose System
One
of the many advantages of hydraulic bolt tensioning, is
the ability to link a number of tensioners together and
load simultaneously all the bolts on a joint. Although
this gives excellent load distribution, an enormous
variety of flexible hose assemblies are necessary -
which confuse the user. To overcome this problem TENTEC
offer a single assembly called a 'Link hose'. This
length of flexible high pressure hose, fitted with male
and female quick connect couplings at opposite ends is
fast and an economical method of connecting multiple
tensioners together - the number of hoses required is
the same as the number of tools to be linked - a simple
formula to remember.
protective
coating for longer life
Expensive hydraulic bolt tensioning tools have a
long working life. Unlike most manufacturers who supply
tensioners in the 'as machined' condition, TENTEC bolt
tensioners have a strong and durable PFTE 1270 coating
for corrosion and extended life.
quality assured
Throughout the total design concept, stress
analysis and 3-D space envelope examination ensure
precise application criteria are met. Parametric systems
and multi-tasking networking enable detailed design
drawing to be turned round in less than 48 hours. An
accurate customer quotation is made available in no time
at all.
product testing and quality
control
All
TENTEC products are assembled and subjected to rigorous
testing and quality control at the Birmingham site.
Tensioner components have to meet exacting standards of
manufacture and finished products have to satisfy
customer requirements. On-site facilities include high
pressure cyclic test equipment to simulate many years of
tensioner use and ultrasonic measuring equipment which
accurately verifies initial and residual bolt loadings.
Calibrated thread gauges are used to ensure
compatibility with application thread forms.
test certificate and operating
manuals
Prior to despatch all TENTEC equipment is issued
with full certification relating to all test procedures
that have been undertaken at the factory. Full operating
manuals are supplied with simple step by step
instructions of tensioning procedures. The technical
specification includes the maximum rated pressure for
the system. To avoid on-site calculation, performance
graphs and charts are supplied.
Service and Training
The
supply of a quality product is complemented with on-site
customer service, equipment hire and training. TENTEC
engineers (fully RGIT certified for offshore work) are
available to offer customers thorough operating
instruction and to give structured training lectures to
tensioner users. There is also a full hire service
whereby the TENTEC site service technicians will survey
a customer's site to evaluate work and equipment
required for a particular project. Part of the service
includes the hire of the torque wrenches, and of
ultrasonic bolt load measuring equipment. Whatever the
problem, consultancy advice and operator training will
ensure that the appropriate product and system
installation meets full customer approval.
